Heart-thumping footage shows troops from Ukraine’s controversial Azov Brigade storming through a Russian trench, launching grenades and firing their powerful military weapons.
Putin’s forces could be seen being taken by surprise by the Ukrainian troops as they battled through the trenches.
The video, shared on the Brigade’s social media channels, shows the volunteers sneaking up on the unsuspecting Russians as the sun comes up, before wreaking havoc.
The fighters from the Azov Brigade launched their grenades from a distance before descending on the trenches, as the enemy began to return fire.
The Azov Brigade are controversial due to their alleged links to far-right organisations.
However, in June this year, the US lifted a ban on aid reaching the unit, with a State Department spokesman telling the BBC in June that a vetting process “found no evidence of gross violations of human rights” by the brigade.
The move was condemned by Moscow, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claiming it was evidence that the US was “prepared to flirt with neo-Nazis” to suppress Russia.
The footage shared by the Azov Brigade appears to show their troops successfully taking the Russian trenches.
After a gun battle, the soldiers manage to get into the trenches themselves and one of their men can be heard saying: “Russians surrender. You’re f***ed.”
All the Russian troops were said to have been eliminated in the attack, but this has not been independently confirmed.
The footage, recorded on Azov’s fighters GoPro cameras, was uploaded to YouTube after the ambush.
In just 24 hours it already had 700,000 views.
