Ukraine’s army obliterated a pontoon bridge built by Russian troops across the Seym river in a devastating HIMARS attack.

Kyiv’s army has made rapid progress ever since launching its daring incursion into Russia on August 6.

Zelensky’s troops carried out a textbook surprise attack using combined arms manoeuvres that stunned Putin’s generals.

Ukraine‘s army supremo General Oleksandr Syrskyi said his forces had penetrated some 35km (22 miles) into Russian territory and had seized almost 500 square miles of enemy land.

Reports suggest that Ukraine‘s army is now fast approaching the banks of the Seym river, and is only 2.6 km away.

Around 3,000 Russian soldiers are reportedly trapped on the west bank of the river and are desperately trying to evacuate to avoid being encircled.

Ukraine has destroyed three main bridges across the river, forcing Putin’s army to construct makeshift pontoon bridges.

However, these are particularly vulnerable to artillery and drone strikes, further complicating matters for the Russians.

One such pontoon bridge was completely wiped out by Ukraine in a devastating HIMARS strike that was captured on video.

The clip shows the jaw-dropping destructive power of the US-supplied mobile artillery rocket system.

The bridge and the immediate surrounding area are hit by a volley of rockets, which disappear under a cloud of white smoke.

The attack is over in a matter of seconds, leaving a trail of destruction and devastation.

Ukraine has sought to justify its Kursk attack as an attempt to create a buffer zone to protect the neighbouring Sumy region from a possible Russian incursion.

The offensive also aims to force Moscow to redirect some forces from offensive operations in Donetsk Oblast, where the Kremlin’s army continues its advance on Pokrovsk.

However, the Kremlin appears to have diverted irregular units from other parts of the frontlines, leaving its army in eastern Ukraine untouched.

Russian troops made more gains on Wednesday, reportedly capturing two villages – Komyshivka and Zhuravka.

The frontline is now 3 miles away from the town of Myrnohrad and about 7 miles from Pokrovsk, a Ukrainian military hub.
