A young British man who went missing in Majorca on July 10 sent a “peculiar” final email to his mother before disappearing, a family friend has revealed.

Ben Ross, 26, from Golborne, Wigan, cut off all communications with his mother Felix Robinson as they attempted to get him access to money after he was robbed during a trip to the beach on July 6.

Ben had initially travelled to Majorca to visit a friend as he took a break from his studies to become a barrister but had decided to stay on the island after securing a job at a local energy company.

Family friend Carla Speight told Express.co.uk that Ben started showing signs of issues with his mental state after his bag was stolen and following a confrontation with his flatmates after he was forced to break into the apartment he was staying in right after the robbery.

Ms Speight said Ben’s mother received a concerning email from a new account on the day the 26-year-old disappeared.

The family friend has launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to help Ms Robinson and her daughter to travel to Palma City to look for Ben.

She confirmed the family has been in contact with the British Consulate in Majorca and staff checked with local police stations and hospital for any signs of Ben following his disappearance on July 10.

He is described as a 6ft, brown-haired with brown eyes. The family think he might have been wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans on the day he went missing.

Ms Speight said Ben’s mum is appealing to “anyone who might have seen him” in and around Palma City as she stressed the focus is “finding Ben”.
