Incredible new train route connects beautiful city and pretty seaside towns for just £15

A new train route connecting two beautiful parts of Spain has been launched with “super prices” at as little as £15 for the first three months.

Spain’s state railway service Renfe has announced the launch of a new high speed Avril service connecting the capital Madrid to seaside town Galicia.

There are 33,000 tickets up for grabs between May 21 and July 21 on the renfe.com website to celebrate the launch of the 337 mile route.

New trains, with the model number S106, will cover the route, which will run from Madrid to the Galician cities of Vigo, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra and Vilagarcía de Arousa in the stunning northwestern region, according to Olive Press.

The high-speed train services will cut the current journey time between Madrid and Vigo and A Coruña by 16 minutes, and between the capital and Santiago de Compostela by 18 minutes.

The trains will be the first phase in reorganising the high-speed rail system, with the network currently hosting nearly 2,485 miles of track.

It connects dozens of cities across the Iberian peninsula, on trains that are fast, clean and comfortable.

However, while destinations such as Galicia are benefitting from investment in the system, others are still waiting for the network to arrive.

These include the provinces of Huelva and Cadiz, which were dealt a further blow for their hopes for a faster train service this week when Socialist Party Transport Minister Oscar Puente has just ruled out any such public works any time soon.

Madrid is famous for its shopping and restaurant scene, visited by millions of tourists each year. Meanwhile, Galicia is less widely visited but still a beautiful destination.

Home to incredible nature and plenty of walking routes, this area is worlds apart from Madrid. For those wanting to experience the busy city life of Madrid while getting to explore some of the countryside, this new train route offers the best of both worlds.

Large parts of Galicia are covered in forest, but there are cities and towns to explore within this area.

It’s great to see investments in high-speed rail systems to connect different regions, though it’s unfortunate that some areas are still waiting for these developments. Hope they get their much-needed upgrades soon!

  2. Will this new train route eventually expand to include other seaside towns in Spain as well?
